| Where does our Footwear Industry stand ( Footwear Making ) |
Posted By alnachiappa on 14-Mar-2008 at 12:31 am
Recently we were discussing with an expert serving Footwear Industries, he was mentioning about the short coming faced by Indian footwear industry - we thought of expressing / discussing the same with valuable people like you
The major crux of the short-comings are mentioned to be
1. Delay in deliveries, (in-spite of availability of production capacity) - as a result of rare availability of shoe components - resulting in longer purchase lead time - which would make task difficult for manual planning of component purchase requirement
* A case debated was, full shoe sole closing unit can produce 1000 pairs per day, but the production output per conveyor is said to be around 500, owing to irregular chain in supply
2. Less / non availability of expert Shoe finishing technology and technologists in comparison with world markets
We take pleasure in offering a solution to one of the above short comings.
Consider the following situation - the root cause of the irregularity in supply could be a flaw in manual requirement planning of shoe components. If this could be planned, considering the lead time for supply of every product from every different supplier, stock quantity, quantity in transit, allocated qty for pending orders, non allocated pending orders, production shall not be interrupted for non-availability components.
